The AIDSCare Ministry was one of the programs at the Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto that began in the 1990’s in response to the AIDS crisis and was founded through a generous bequest from the Estate of Jean-Pierre Perreault. In 1997, it was expanded to CommunityCARE to provide support to clients with different illnesses and needs.

As the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS crisis on the LGBTQ+ community continued, a world-wide movement to commemorate and remember those lost began with the creation of the AIDS Quilt. The AIDS Memorial Quilt was founded by American, Cleve Jones on November 27, 1985. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, MCC Toronto members and congregants came together to support and remember those who were afflicted  with AIDS by creating AIDS Quilts. By the end of the 1990s, MCC Toronto had created six AIDS Quilts with over 1,000 names.
