As part of Community Ties: Our Future Together, we hosted a community conversation that brought together 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, activists, artists, and organizers to share insights into local histories, current initiatives, and the unique challenges and celebrations shaping queer and trans life in Yellowknife.

We also facilitated a zine-making workshop, where participants created pages reflecting the character, creativity, and resilience of their communities. These contributions are included in the Yellowknife zine you see here as an expression of memory, identity, and connection that adds to the growing national conversation about what 2SLGBTQIA+ communities need and envision for the future.

The pages in this zine were created in Yellowknife on Thursday, 13 March 2025 during a community conversation facilitated by Faizaan Khan and Nico Mara-McKay with Cassi Atamanenko, Laura Hodgins, Pretty Ngo, and Renee Saucier.

This zine was compiled and edited by Heather Riley with additional graphic design work from Spike Lin.

Our sincere thanks to the folks at the Northern Mosaic Network and a community member for their support in helping us better understand the community and helping us spread the word ahead of our visit, and to Nunalik Financial Services and Conferencing for providing us with space to host our conversation.

Dans le cadre de Liens communautaires : Notre avenir ensemble, nous avons tenu une conversation communautaire qui a réuni des membres de la communauté 2SLGBTQIA+, des activistes, des artistes, et des organisateurs·ices afin qu’iels partagent leurs perspectives sur les histoires, initiatives, défis, et célébrations qui faconnent la vie queer et trans à Yellowknife.

Nous avons aussi facilité un atelier de création de zines au cours duquel les participants·es ont confectionné des pages qui reflètent l’esprit et caractère distinct de leurs communautés respectives. Ces contributions, qui sont ici réunies dans le zine de Yellowknife, sont une expression de la mémoire, de l'identité et des connexions locales qui contribuent à l'expansion de la conversation nationale sur les besoins et le futur des communautés 2SLGBTQIA+.

Les pages de ce zine ont été créées à Yellowknife le jeudi 13 mars 2025 lors d'une conversation communautaire animée par Faizaan Khan et Nico Mara-McKay avec Cassi Atamanenko, Laura Hodgins, Pretty Ngo, et Renee Saucier.
