DISBANDING OF QuAIA (2015)

On February 26th, 2015 Queers Against Israeli Apartheid announced via their website, that they would be disbanding at the end of the month. QuAIA’s decision to disband was due to members shifting focus to work with other organizations focused on Palestinian solidarity on a global scale. The publication lists the various accomplishments the group achieved in their seven years of operation, including the various challenges by lobby groups, the City of Toronto, and Pride Toronto, to censor the term “Israeli Apartheid,” and prohibit political activism in the parade. The group also describes having promoted dialogue around pinkwashing and Palestinian solidarity, which were the foundations of the group when it formed.
