Jearld Moldenhauer is an activist and artist who participated in the August 1971 march We Demand at Ottawa's Parliament Hill, danced in straight bars, and staged kiss-ins and zaps. Moldenhauer formed Toronto Gay Action, proposed and created The Body Politic, and founded the Glad Day Book Shop. Moldenhauer discusses the censorship of gay materials, and the seizure of property by the police.

John Greyson is an artist and filmmaker who teaches film at York University. Greyson has been making films, videos, installations, and artist books that deal with Queer Liberation since the early 1980s. Discusses how the queer movement and avant-garde art movement were intertwined in the period, including Fuse Magazine, The Body Politic, General Idea, Clive Robertson, Lisa Steele, as they found common cause in their commitment to progressive politics.

The Foolscap Oral History Project, also known as the Toronto Gay History Project, was undertaken by John Grube and Ed Jackson in order to collect and preserve histories of everyday gay life and social culture in Toronto. The project produced a collection of 42 interviews on 52 cassette tapes that provide a rich picture of the lives and histories of men in Grube and Jackson's social circle.
Interviews took place from 1981-1987, and cover gay life in Toronto from the 1940s until that time. Topics include the men's early life, coming out, relationships, friendships, sex lives, careers, military service, community organizing, political actions, religion, bar culture, and experiences with psychiatry.
The tapes and transcripts comprising the Foolscap Project were donated to the Canadian Lesbian and Gay Archives in 2016, and are currently being processed by the LGBTQ Oral History Digital Collaboratory.

John Nixon, 52 years old at the time of this oral history interview, discusses his facing charges for having sex with young guys, the trial process, and his imprisonment in the Saint John mental hospital in New Brunswick. He also discusses coping with and overcoming depression, the attack or support of people around him while facing charges, his life in prison, ties with people at Saint John, and his avoiding of sexual relations while in jail. John also narrates his early life in New Brunswick, relationship with family, moving to Toronto, work as a parts-man in a service station, sexual life after jail, involvement in the Toronto gay scene and in intergenerational relationships. The interview ends with John explaining why he is critical of radical gay liberationists and of the gay newspaper The Body Politic. He argues that police department’s attitude had changed in recent years, resulting in a decrease in police harassment.

John Wilson has been involved in the Queer Liberation Movement since the 1970s and was at the first gay protest on Parliament Hill, a member of Toronto Gay Action, Gay Alliance Toward Equality, Gays and Lesbians Against the Right Everywhere, Kimetta Society, and other early gay rights groups. Wilson discusses why he and others took on such groundbreaking work.

Ken Popert was the editor and publisher of Pink Triangle Press and identifies as a sexual libertarian. Popert cites internal anger and sectarianism as a threat to the movement and emphasizes the need for leadership and planning in any organized struggle. Lali Mohamad is a community builder, particularly with African, Black, and Caribbean communities. Mohamad has been influenced by Black lesbians like Audrey Lord, Barbara Smith, and Pat Parker, and this has pushed him to consider the intersectionality of Queer Liberation, following Kimberly Crenshaw. He cautions against the centralizing of queer among other social locations and points to queer youth of colour as being some of the most innovative members of the Queer Liberation Movement.

Marcel Grimard is a francophone queer. He critiques what have been termed respectable gays and their desire for normalizing conformity found within heteronormative couplings. Grimard cites the importance of intergenerationality within the Queer Movement, as young people bring in new perspectives, and elders bring their experience, money, and hard-won strategies on how to confront the establishment.

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Queer Liberation Theory Project seeks to advance the public education and community development work being done in the name of Queer Liberation by resurrecting the principles of the historical Gay Liberation Movement, re-contextualizing them within contemporary queer discourse, translating the findings in theoretical terms, and disseminating them through various accessible multimedia platforms.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ontario-based activists, academics and artists who engage in queer liberation theory and activism have been interviewed and an oral discussion and feature documentary created for public education and queer community development purposes. </span></p>

Marie Robertson is a therapist, community developer, and senior LGBT activist. Robertson critiques the desire for marriage equality with the desire to assimilate, and instead encourages young people to recognize the gains achieved by previous generations. Senior issues are a major concern, such as long-term care facilities, and developing services for the community, such as through the Ottawa Senior Pride Network and Seniors Helping Seniors.
