Description
Lynne Fernie is a widely respected film-maker, multi-disciplinary artist and cultural activist. A prolific cultural producer, Lynne is best known for her films, which include the much-loved lesbian classic Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives with Aerlyn Weissman, a film which won numerous awards and has been broadcast internationally. The two also collaborated on the award-winning Fiction and Other Truths: A Film About Jane Rule. Lynne was a founding collective member of Fireweed: A Feminist Quarterlyand co-editor of Lesbiantics, the first lesbian issue in 1982. She also curated Sight Specific at A Space Gallery (Toronto) in 1987, a group exhibition of lesbian visual art. Lynne is currently working on a new film for elementary school children.
