Description
Born and raised on Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, Manitoulin Island, Gloria Eshkibok is a Two-Spirited actor, singer, and community activist. Her theatre credits include acting in Billy Merasty's Fireweed, Alanis Odjig's Manitoulin Incident, Audrey Butler'sMedusa Rising, and Tomson Highway's The Rez Sisters and Dry Lips Oughtta Move to Kapuskasing. Film appearances include Dance Me Outside, Promise the Moon, and Janis Cole and Holly Dale's Dangerous Offender. She is the lead vocalist of the Unceded Band, and sings with the Sweetgrass City Singers. Currently she is engaged in an innovative interpretation of Eugene O'Neill's play The Hairy Apeat Theatre Passe Muraille (Toronto). As Gloria says, "The elders say that the circle is incomplete without the Two-Spirited community!" (1998 Induction Statement)
