Description
Alec Butler, is an acclaimed playwright, cultural producer, art slave, performer, and "lesbian punk iconoclast". Alec is the author of several plays, including: Claposis, Cradle Pin, Shakedown, Turnout, Medusa Rising (nominated for two Dora Mavor Moore Awards), and Black Friday? (nominated for the Governor General's Award for English Drama). Alec is the Artistic Director of Tempermental Journey, a theatre company founded with fellow Cape Bretoner Bryden MacDonald, and is a co-creator of Strange Sisters, a Sexy Lesbian Cabaret. A homosexual revolutionary, Alec didn't come out of the closet, but blew it up instead. Community activist, proud leatherdyke and queer pagan gender bender, Alec has been flirting recently with film and performance. (1998 Induction Statement)
