Clip is an excerpt from an interview with Toronto family lawyer Martha McCarthy discussing the case "M v H", a challenge for spousal support following the dissolution of a same-sex partnership. The case resulted in a landmark decision of the Supreme Court of Canada that same-sex couples are due the same rights and protections as opposite-sex couples in civil partnerships (1999).
