Ian Iqbal Rashid is a poet and writer, and one of the co-founders of Desh Pardesh. In this interview he discusses the conception of Desh, its original visions and its its manifestation into an internationally recognized event. Rashid was not involved extensively in programming or planning, but was instrumental to bringing together the necessary team to do so. Rashid also discusses race politics, race shame, and the political climate of Toronto from the late 1980s to late 1990s. He concludes with how Desh Pardesh shaped him as a South Asian artist and gay man.

Phillip, who was the treasurer of the Right to Privacy Committee, discusses his sexuality and relationship to the gay community, and details the physical and verbal violence of the police that he witnessed on the night of the raids. He then discusses the trials and aftermath of the arrests.

Part 2 covers Pride's political potential, the Right to Privacy Committee and the Bathhouse Raids, AIDS social service work and activism, Bill 7, and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms Kinsman also discusses gay and lesbian studies and the homophobia at U of T.
Part 3 discusses activism in Newfoundland around pride celebration and sexual orientation protections, pornography and moral panic in the media, and washroom raids.

He also discusses his play, Snapshots, and using it to educate Native communities about HIV/AIDS, his work with AIDS education outreach on reserves and in Vancouver, the Native Role Model program, and how being gay affects his work as an actor.

Tape two (56 mins) covers the barracks and other bathhouses in Toronto, and details his experiences on the night of the raids, as well as the aftermath including rallies and activities of the Gay Community Appeal.
